Sighting Details

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

Very bright light that was the intensity of Venus but more yellow in colour, in the western sky at elevation of approx 45 degrees. When it reached its full brightness intensity it appeared to fade rapidly.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

It seemed to be stationary at first then fade rapidly and appeared to move off in a westerly direction until it faded completely. A bit like the spacecraft at the end of ET but at a higher altitude.

Any additional comments :

The phenomena was witnessed by my wife aged 54. We are both aware of what airplane and helicopters look like in the night sky. It could not have been an airplane as there were no other lights apparent. It could not have been a helicopter with a search light because the intensity of the light would have allowed us to see other features of the craft as it was not quite dark. We observed this in a clear sky although there was a cloud bank coming in from the west but this did not affect our view.
