What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

reflective silver, too far up in the sky to see a shape

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

It travelled far too slowly for it to be a plane. it was in view for approximately 10 minutes travelling in the same direction. we thought it might have been the shuttle gliding down to earth? but after reading the internet today nasa were expecting it to land today so possibly it might not have been the shuttle.

trying not to think of it as anything sinister, but it clearly wasn't an aircraft, due to the slow speed or the length it was in view. It seemed higher than the long distance flights which are approx 36,000 ft. As we were watching the 'ufo' there was a long distance flight in another part of the sky which clearly illustrated the speed a 'normal' aircraft would travel at, this aircraft disappeared from view within 15 seconds, whereas the 'ufo' stayed visible for a easily 10 minutes.
