Sighting Details

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

A white disc about 30 feet in diameter, with a gentle dome in the centre. The rim of the disc was about 6 feet thick The craft looked much like one from an episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

It was scanning the nearby countryside with a narrow red beam as if looking for something.

Any additional comments :

The night after this a local girl called Gennete Tate went missing on her paper round, and has not been seen since! The frame of her bycycle was red hot and the tyres were melted. The newspapers were left blowing in the wind.
