What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to
terrestrial objects/lights/colour : |
Indeterminate size, but it was a very yellow, bright light, moving relatively fast. I thought it was a plane and on that basis would have to be very low as it was moving very fast. I listened at a window but there was no noise. It was way too fast to be a satellite and too big as well. It came from the south south-east and was heading approximately north. I ran outside, which took a few seconds, by which time it was passing over my house to the east. It looked exactly the same from the 'rear' - a bright, yellow 'flare' moving in a smooth and steady direction. It was visible as it approached the horizon for some time - perhaps a minute or more. I looked through binoculars before it went below the visible horizon, but could see no detail. My wife saw it as it headed north as well. |
Did the UFO do any
strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :
No - just a steady smooth flight path and no visible flashing lights. |

Any additional comments :
I am an amateur astronomer and astro-imager and have some considerable experience with shooting stars, space junk and satellites. This was too low and too fast to be anything like that. It also looked exactly the same as it approached as when it was going away, which again, is most unusual. It is difficult to estimate it's speed as I do not know how high it was, but it was at least 5 or 6 times faster across the sky than a jet liner - even perhaps 2 or 3 times the speed of a low jet fighter that we often see around the Lincolnshire sky - but totally silent even after it had gone over my house. My only suggestion is a piece of space junk perhaps re-entering the atmosphere.
