Sighting Details

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

From my backyard in downtown Rapid City, it had no lights or sound, going from north to south about the same speed as a slow airplane, about only 500 feet up. I could only see it because it was sort of displacing the stars and night sky around it. I don't think it wanted to be seen, like it was slowly looking us over. It was in a V-formation of maybe half a dozen balls.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

I could follow it for about 2 minutes, as it gradually maneuvered the balls out into a straighter line, out of the V-formation. Then I lost sight of it behind the trees in my back yard.

Any additional comments :

It didn't feel threatening, and was pretty interesting to watch as it was definitely unusual, but it was also sneaky.
