A large red orb in the sky.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

It was hover in the sky, just glowing, and humming. It was hidden by the clouds.

Any additional comments :

I went outside for a last blow on my pipe before retiring for the night when I heard a strange humming noise. It was a fairly clear night, a few clouds around, and when I looked up, I saw a large red orb hovering in the sky. I was shocked. Never in my days have i seen such a thing. I called out my wife, Barbra, who also witnessed this event. Moments later it was consumed by the clouds. We waited several minutes but it did not re-appear. The sound disappeared along with the orb.
