What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :
In the summer of 1999 at approximately 11:15 pm we had just finished work and I was driving one of the two friends that I had with me home to the Symonds green area of Stevenage, it was a clear summers evening with no overcast clouds, wind or rain. We pulled up at his house and sat chatting for a good half hour before returning back the way we come to drop off friend number two. As we got to the junction of the main road to turn left we noticed that more than half the people in the street were standing outside the fronts of their houses looking up into the sky, a bit confused as to why this was happening, we both leant forward to look out the front of the van to see what they were all looking at. To our amazement we saw a bunch of really bright flashing lights, reds, blues and greens, the lights were really sharp and instant, not like a bulb being turned on and off where you would see the light fade away, but instant on and instant off pulsating randomly about every half second. We watched this for approximately three minutes before the flashing started to move off in the direction that we were going. We lost sight of the lights then so I decided to take my other friend home. We got to his house and just as I was about to leave, he shouted to me that he can see the lights again, I looked out the windscreen and sure enough, they were there. At this point he jumped back into the van and said quick lets chase them, so at this point I drove like a complete maniac across Stevenage until we came to a large roundabout at the bottom of the Chells area. This is where it gets scary, we both jumped out of the van and stood watching the object, which had now stopped flashing and remained motionless no more than a thousand meters or so from where we were standing. We were looking up at it at about an angle of 45 degrees and then what we looking at by now were two very bright white lights that seemed about 20 meters or so apart. They just sat motionless in the air for a short period of time but then a third bright white light appeared in the middle making the lights now three in a row. To my horror they started to grow in size and I realised that the craft whatever it was, was heading towards us, the pair of us then stood deadly quiet as the craft very slowly hovered over the top of us heading in towards the centre of the town. We were both completely gob smacked by this and the craft being completely noiseless. When it was directly overhead, I noticed that it was triangular shaped as you could see the outline of the craft and in the centre of the three white lights was a massive red glowing circular shape, the only way that I can describe the red glow is if you look at one of those infrared cameras that banks have outside, then you’ll know the red light I’m talking about. It passed over at a very slow speed, no more than say a couple of miles per hour and it wasn’t very high up, maybe only a thousand feet or so, as it was lit up by the three white lights, we could see a mass of what looked like ducting and tube work on the underside. It was only a few seconds after the craft had flown directly over the top of us it just shot off leaving a faint trail or tracer behind it, if you blinked, you would have missed its departure. Not a sound was heard from it all the time we were watching. That’s not the end of it though, I took my friend home and returned back to my house which was only down the road from where we had the sighting, as I was driving up towards my house I saw the craft again hovering over Fairlands Lakes just beyond the field where I live. This time I ran indoors, grabbed my girlfriend, her nephew and niece and piled them into the van, my girlfriend was a stubborn disbeliever when I told her what I had seen and still didn’t believe me until we sat in the road watching it hovering there. After a short while of say five minutes, it again shot off with the blink of an eye. She now believes in UFO’s and so do I. Apparently a chap in Scotland saw it the same night and Stanstead Airport had caught it on their radar and was tracking it to.

Any additional comments :
When watching it hovering the last time it was over the water at Fairlands lakes, someone must have seen that as you always get cars parked there at night in the summer. I also took another friend to where we first saw it hovering and found a massive area of burnt grassland and shrubs. The leaves and grass were coloured black but no sign of fire was present.
