What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :
It was far away, my husband and I were looking through binoculars. It appeared at first to be a twinkling star, which is why it caught our attention - we were on honeymoon and as we live in a city don't often see clear night skies - so the stars had caught our attention, we decided to make the most of it and sit outside star gazing. We could see flashing coloured lights on it, at first they appeared blue and red, which is why we thought it was an aircraft - but there was green and yellow on it too, and they were flashing/pulsing rhythmically, not as fast as an aircraft that I have seen before. It appeared to be far away it was a point of light (which is why we thought it was a bright star at first) you could just make out the colour of the lights with the binoculars. It was hard to judge the size of it, or the distance, as there was nothing to compare it to.
At first it was moving slowly, it appeared to be hovering in the air - but at least 3 times it disappeared into the distance (moving away from us) so that the lights on it were nearly invisible (you could see the light if you didn't look directly at it, as you would with a faint star) After about an hour, it appeared to be streaking, and moving in the same direction as the stars, but frequently moving quickly in the opposite direction (which is when it streaked white) - (imagine if you are flying a kite in low wind and yank it to get in the air flow - this is what it looked like) After maybe another hour, it appeared to stop doing this and seemed to be the other side of the atmosphere as it was then in one constant position. There were no more flashing lights, instead in now pulsed more slowly (in a clockwise motion) faint violet and green alternately. by this point it was about 1.30 am so we went inside and continued watching through the window for a few minutes but it was very late and it did not appear to be doing anything new.

I've always been a sceptic of UFO sightings, until moving to the city 5 years ago I'd lived in the countryside and never seen anything unusual apart from the odd meteor shower. My husband and I questioned each other over what we had seen and tried to rule out anything else it may have been. A satellite (to my knowledge) would not move in this manner, or have these lights on it. A helicopter wouldn't move like this, and are not lit up like this. It may have been an RAF aircraft - it is possible it was/is a new design they are testing - I dont know. I cannot conceive it was a meteor shower, or a planet in the distance, as it was moving at times very quickly (visible to the naked eye, despite being a long distance away) and in the opposite direction to the stars. We have looked on the internet to see if there were any more reports, as it was so intense, we couldnt believe no one else saw it, and have searched for any reports of other sky activity, but found nothing, so I thought I would contact you for your opinion.
