like a bright star, but moving slowly north

the sky was clear tonight, lots of stars and the odd plane, but this was not a plain it had no flashing lights, just looked like 1 of the stars but moving very slowly and was very high but very clear, i tried to follow its path but it just vanished after a minute or so
