What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour:
Very bright light, I thought it was a search helicopter at first. There was some low cloud coverage and the object was at cloud hieght and 2-3kM away.
It was moving slowly but there was no noise. It then went behind a small whispy cloud and never emerged. I waited for 10 minutes to see if the object came back into view or I could make out a shape of a helicopter or plane.

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:
The object disappeared.
Any additional comments:
Good visibility, late evening scattered low clouds and intermittent sunshine through the clouds. We have commercial flights flying overhead going to Manchester or Liverpool Airport. This was not a commercial or search flight.
