CSIGHTING DETAILS

What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour:
Green ball of light, bright, bigger than aircraft, no trails, not flashing or pulsating

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:
appeared high in sky, moving very fast steady speed and right down to distant horizon.

Any additional comments:
Weather: Around zero degrees Celsius, no cloud, stars visible, slight haze, no wind
Moon: 75% visible at rear of house in south west sky
View from front of house: Approx. 500m from shore of Loch Gilp, elevated above playing field looking south east towards eastern shore of Loch Gilp and Cowal peninsula beyond. No buildings to obstruct view just a few bare trees, but clearance at point of sighting. Only three or four street lamps visible by looking 30degrees to the right standing close to the window.
Sighting: Bright green ball of light, evenly coloured and not flashing or pulsating. Appeared to be larger than an aircraft traversing the sky in at a steady and fast speed. Heading southwest and visible all the way to the horizon, (the hills of Cowal peninsula) in the direction of Glasgow. This was visible for around 2 - 2.5 seconds.
For the record I have a keen interest in aviation and transatlantic airways are directly above our house with air traffic heading to and from Glasgow VOR at Glasgow airport. Therefore the sight of high altitude aircraft is very common. We are also familiar with low flying military flights - Tornados, Hercules and the helicopters from HMS Gannet at Prestwick.
I hope this is of some interest.

Stuart McInnes
