It was a silver cylinder shape with a bright white light shining from the bottom

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:

it hovered for a few seconds then slowly lowered down then disapead in to the distance

it was completely silent and the light did not shine down to the gound like a surch light
