What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour:
It appeared as a round red pulsating light, which changed to orange as it came closer. It was about the size of a single car headlight and very bright.
Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:
It came towards us from the East to the West, but was some distance away in the sky, and stopped above our garden where it remained for about 30 seconds and then started to climb vertically into the sky (to the east of the north star) until it disappeared from view because it was so high.
It appeared three times within about 15 minutes and followed the same pattern of travel.

Any additional comments:
My partner, Mike Broadbent and my daughter, also saw this happen. We are used to seeing aircraft, helicopters and satellites in the sky, but this bore no relationship to anything we have ever seen before.
