It was a ball of yellow or orange light and was about the same size as a small aircraft.
Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:
It was travelling in a straight line and then suddenly it was travelling at a right angle to its original path

It was travelling in a straight line and then suddenly it was travelling at a right angle to its original path. Both myself and my Wife observed it out of the window. My wife said it was a plane and then changed her mind when it changed direction suddenly. Then we were both certain it was not a plane when the object was joined by two others. The second one seemed to swoop up to join the first one and then the third one climbed up slowly and joined the other two and then they all travlled off in the same direction and disapeard into the distance.
