A 'glint from the sun' turned into a white opaque ball, which then shrank. Two sets of lights flashed either side of it. Just like this: "O"

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:

It ascended slightly as it shrank and when the lights flashed it disappeared.

It was very impressive, whether it was one of ours or not!
