SIGHTING REPORT UFO sighting at Gibraltar

CSIGHTING DETAILS
What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour:
The object was picked up via a night sight scope called Twiggy which was used for night observation when we were patrolling the border between Spain and Gibraltar, it was at a high altitude and just looked like a moving star, we recorded this in our shift log book at 21:00pm.
Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:
The UFO was tracked until it came to hover on the horizon and at this point we could pick it up on the Radar at 34k out.
The position of the UFO was directly in the Straights of Gibraltar and there was usually quite a lot of ships passing through, every time a ship entered the Straights the UFO followed it for a few miles then hovered back to virtually the same position.
The UFO was observed until approx 05:00am then just slowly moved back into space and disappeared.

After our shift we spoke to the person who was on flight movements that night and asked the question's,
1/ Was there any flight movements that night answer: None
2/ What was the max flight duration for a helicopter hovering for that length of time answer: No Helicopter could maintain that length of time without refueling.
3/ What lighting does helicoter's use:single beam this was a complete round osolating light with no beam.
After our shift the log book was replaced with a new one and we do not know what happened to the old one.
This was observed by 3 military personnel one being myself.
The mystery still remains unexplained.
