SIGHTING REPORT UFO sighting at Frankfort, IL

At first, my friend and I thought it was a formation of fighter jets because of it's velocity. When it suddenly stopped we pulled our car to the side of the road and got out to look at it. It was then that we realized it wasn't any formation of jets or the like. There were 5 or 6 lights in a V formation with an extra timed flashing light directly opposite the tip of the V. It was facing due south when it stopped but was turning toward the northwest. It appeared to be about 5,000 feet up and about the size of 2 jumbo jets. It stayed it's position for about 30 to 45 seconds before starting off towards the northwest. It moved much slower than when we first spotted it. It was late and there wasn't very much traffic but 2 other cars stopped to look.

The object hovered for 30 to 45 seconds while it pointed in another direction and then slowly headed towards the northwest. It did not make any audible sound.

We were in Frankfort, IL when we spotted it. It went towards the northwest, which is where we happened to be heading. My friend and I decided that we weren't going to tell anyone because we thought they would think we had lost our marbles. We arrived at our friend's house in Homer Township which is just west of Orland Park, IL about 25 minutes later. When we arrived he was drying off on his pool deck in the back yard and excitedly told us that he had seen a low flying craft that made a very low humming sound and vibrated the water in his pool. We pretended to make fun of him while asking him questions and never let on that we saw the same thing. In the last 5 years I have told only 3 people what I saw that night until now. Since that night I have studied UFO's using the Internet, magazines, books, and television documentaries and have drawn my own conclusion regarding what my friend and I saw. I just thought that I should share this information I've been clinging to for the past 5 years...
