A real bright white light

It was stationary for a few minutes. I thought it was a star or planet. I asked my wife to come look at it cause it was so bright. She looked at it for a few seconds and it took off in a flash through the sky and came to a dead stop. We both argued about what it was. We got freaked and went inside. It stayed in that position till we went to bed. I have never seen the same light again. We have many strange things in the sky here. Nobody know what they are. I have never seen anything move so fast and stop so suddenly.
