OFFICIAL RECORD
Pentagon releases 298-page personnel file of first US flying saucer investigator
As part of its seventh batch of declassified UAP files, the Department of War has published a 298-page personnel record for Colonel Howard Monroe McCoy, who served as Chief of Intelligence at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base's Air Materiel Command from October 1947 to mid-1949. In that role he oversaw the Technical Intelligence Division that collected the Air Force's first 147 flying saucer reports. The dossier itself contains no UFO references, giving instead McCoy's service record: a West Point graduate who later ran Project Paperclip and held CIA-related postings before retiring in 1954.

REPORTED CLAIM
1952 Sardinian sighting that reached the Vatican Observatory surfaces in Pentagon file release
A declassified US Air Force intelligence report, released as part of the Pentagon's seventh batch of UAP files, describes a 1952 sighting by Professor Giovanni Battista Sias of Sassari, Sardinia. Sias reported seeing a luminous, green-blue sphere move at extreme speed for a few seconds, a sighting two other people said they also saw. He consulted a Vatican Observatory astronomer, Father Joseph Junkes, who calculated a distance and size for the object; Sias then passed his account to the US Embassy in Rome, which forwarded it to the Air Force's Project Blue Book in December 1953. No explanation for the sighting is given in the report as described.

UFO society cites police files on orange-light sighting over Armagh
The Northern Ireland UFO Society says a Freedom of Information disclosure from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, released in March, documents at least one unexplained aerial sighting over Armagh in the past year: three orange lights seen in a triangular formation in August 2025. The same PSNI records reportedly include other reports from Northern Ireland, including a disc-shaped object seen over Randalstown. No official explanation for any of the sightings has been given.
