UAP Science Advisory Council chair Avi Loeb calls for better sensors at UAP sighting locations

Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb, who chairs the UAP Science Advisory Council, has said he wants to work with the Pentagon to place better sensors at the sites where unidentified objects are reported, after the latest batch of declassified files described a silent black triangle seen near a US security facility. Loeb told NewsNation's The Hill that eyewitness descriptions alone cannot resolve such cases, and that sustained instrument readings, including thermal data and precise timing, are needed because they are largely absent from the Pentagon's existing reports.

    OFFICIAL RECORD

UK Airprox Board finds 'definite risk of collision' in British Airways jet's UFO near-miss over Surrey

A British Airways Boeing 777 climbing out of Heathrow on 24 June came within about 50ft of a small, fast-moving, reflective object at 5,800ft over Surrey, according to a UK Airprox Board report. The pilot, who initially took it for a drone, described it as roughly the size of four stacked toasters; no radar contact with the object was recorded. The board concluded that a definite risk of collision had existed and said it was unable to determine the object's nature from the evidence available. The aircraft, carrying more than 250 people, continued on to New York without further incident.

Advocacy group warns closed-door NDAA talks could strip UAP Disclosure Act of its teeth again

The New Paradigm Institute says House and Senate negotiators reconciling the FY2027 National Defence Authorization Act are in closed-door conference talks that could remove the UAP Disclosure Act provisions added earlier this year, including an independent review board with subpoena power over defence contractors and a presumption of public release for UAP records held at the National Archives. The group says this mirrors what happened in 2023, when similar enforcement mechanisms were stripped from an earlier version of the bill during conference. Without them, it argues, the legislation would become what it called 'a hollow shell'. No outcome of the conference talks had been announced at the time of reporting.

    OFFICIAL RECORD

Pentagon's seventh UAP file release includes declassified WWII report on 'foo fighter' sightings

Among the files the Department of War published on 23 October in its seventh PURSUE release is a declassified report from the US 415th Night Fighter Squadron describing objects seen over Germany in December 1944, later nicknamed 'foo fighters'. Aircrews described lights that blinked on and off, changed colour, and flew in formation with their aircraft, and the document records concern that crews had been followed by the lights, which it called 'agitating' behaviour, prompting a request for further investigation. A follow-up memo from February 1945, also part of the release, stated there was 'something more than imagination behind the matter'. The files do not offer an explanation for the sightings.

Sailors report glowing orbs racing at 'hypersonic' speed over the Atlantic south of Nova Scotia

Two sailors aboard a ship around 400 miles south of Nova Scotia say they watched glowing orbs for about 40 minutes on 11 October, in clear skies with good visibility. One crew member's report to the National UFO Reporting Center, filed on 21 October, says the first object rose and fell and moved side to side before shooting off at what the witness described as hypersonic speed, and that three or four more orbs then appeared moving the same way. The report says the ship's radar picked up no targets despite radar screenshots being submitted alongside it, and offers no explanation for what was seen.
