REPORTED CLAIM
Historian Peter Levenda describes triangular UFO hovering over his car in Florida
Historian and author Peter Levenda has described a sighting one December night a few years ago, when a silent, triangular object hovered directly above his car on a road in South Florida. He told International Business Times UK he first thought it was a police helicopter but realised it made no engine noise, and that it then vanished with no visible means of propulsion, after which he briefly saw other distant lights before they too disappeared. Levenda, who has written on UFO cases and intelligence history for years, offered no further evidence beyond his own account.

OFFICIAL RECORD
Declassified Pentagon contractor report details UFO physics modelling in seventh PURSUE release
Among the files in the Department of War's seventh PURSUE release, published 23 October, is a declassified 141-page self-assessment by contractor Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS), produced under a 2008-2010 Defense Intelligence Agency contract. The report describes BAASS building what it called the largest known UAP data warehouse, including a cataloguing system named Project Capella, and says it used finite-element modelling software to analyse the 2004 'Tic Tac' encounter, estimating speeds of Mach 10.7 to Mach 107.5 depending on the transit time assumed. It also describes modelling a disc-shaped object entering water in connection with the 1967 Shag Harbour case, and electromagnetic modelling intended to explain why some visually sighted objects did not appear on radar.
