What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour:
it was silvery with red & green lights pulsating around the underside. the silver glowed brightly.
Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:
exactly. it shot off like a dart. i am soon to be 54 years old. i have never forgotten that night.
i came in to my room to go to bed and my room was full of light. i remember thinking this can't be. it was like high noon - but it was around midnight.

i just watched it - transfixed. it did not seem scary. for a long time - i would look at the sky at night. i was sure it would come back, but i never saw it again.
