Tennessee radio host films fading lights over Haywood County
Mickey Utley, who hosts a paranormal talk show, says he and his wife watched a bright, star-like light low on the horizon fade in and out over his home near Brownsville, Tennessee, on the night of 1 October, before further orbs appeared. Utley, an amateur drone pilot, says he ruled out drones and could see nothing nearby that would explain the lights. According to the National UFO Reporting Center, it was the sixth report from the Brownsville area since 2000 and the first since 2023.

Durham academic warns that shooting down UAP risks conflict if they are hostile
Michael Bohlander, Durham University's Chair in Global Law and SETI Policy, argues in a commentary for the Global Policy Journal that unidentified anomalous phenomena should be presumed non-aggressive unless they show hostile intent, rather than attacked. He warns there is "no guarantee" such objects would stay restrained if fired on, and that some could carry weapons as advanced as the rest of their technology. Bohlander also argues the US intelligence community keeps an "iron grip" on the subject with little public transparency about rules of engagement. He makes no claim that extraterrestrial craft have been shown to exist.
