EXPLAINER
New York Times assembles 155,000 pages of UAP documents from seven countries
The New York Times has compiled roughly 155,000 pages of unidentified anomalous phenomena records from seven countries, separate from the Pentagon's own PURSUE releases, reports the International Business Times UK. The documents include a June 2026 account by a federal agent describing an October 2023 sighting of lights that changed from a white-orange orb into a box-shaped arrangement of orange and purple lights, and a case where six agents reported 'orbs launching other orbs'. The Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office found military flares explained about 60% of the activity reviewed, leaving 40% unresolved. The documents do not establish that any object was extraterrestrial, and some illustrations in them were generated by AI more than two years after the events they depict.

REPORTED CLAIM
US intelligence witnesses may testify to Congress over 2025 'mothership' orb incident
Congressman Eric Burlison says US intelligence witnesses, including a career official from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, may testify to Congress about an alleged encounter during a late-2025 mission near a secret military base on the US West Coast, reports BroBible. An FBI report released in May under the Trump administration described personnel seeing 'numerous orange orbs' alongside a helicopter, including two large orbs that flared up and one that broke apart into smaller objects, which military jets could not identify. Burlison says the witnesses have not yet given Congress all of the video evidence they have. BroBible notes Burlison has made a number of UFO claims in the past, including about classified footage and the Smithsonian, that have not been substantiated.

REPORTED CLAIM
UAP advisory council member urges US government to add context to released UFO files
Jennice Vilhauer, a psychologist who sits on President Trump's Scientific Advisory Council on UAP and the Disclosure Foundation's advisory board, says the US government should accompany its released UFO files with explanations of what analysis was carried out and why some cases were not resolved, according to Female First. She says 'transparency without context isn't really transparency', arguing that explanations reduce public anxiety and confusion even where they fall short of certainty, without compromising national security.

REPORTED CLAIM
Pentagon's former top UAP investigator gives first public interview
Jay Stratton, who spent more than 16 years leading the Pentagon's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, has given his first public interview, according to Fox News. He describes encounters with black triangle-shaped aircraft that he says pose a potential national security risk, and says the US military used nuclear submarines as bait to try to track some of the anomalies it investigated. Fox News did not report direct quotes from Stratton, only a summary of the topics he raised.
