CSIGHTING DETAILS
What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour:
I couldn't make out the main body of the object properly, but I think it was a round ball. It was at the sort of height you would expect a passenger aircraft to fly at. It had a very long tail/trail, which was gold/copper in colour.It travelled much faster than any aircraft, and in what appeared to be a perfect straight line. I have seen many shooting stars, and this was nothing like that. There was absolutely no sound whatsoever. It disappeared into thick cloud, and I did not see it re-appear.
Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly:
No. It just moved extremely quickly accross the sky. The trail that followed, unlike a jets vapour, seemed solid and extremely straight, not moving as vapour would, but as though it was actually joined to the 'craft'.
Any additional comments:
comparing this with a commercial airliner, I would estimate the speed to be something like 2000 mph.
